A man was found guilty of manslaughter on Wednesday after stabbing a family member to death in Buckingham.
According to a court document, Ryan Lee Foster, 46, stabbed his neighbor, who was also a family member, killing him in March 2022.
Deputies did not find him at his home. Instead, they received a tip that he was trying to leave the state to get to North Carolina.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office sent up a helicopter to make sure Foster didn't escape the area.
Deputies said they found his pickup truck parked outside of a home on Palm Creek Drive in North Fort Myers.
Deputies responded to the home, where they said they found him covered in the victim's blood.
A court document states that sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 28, 2025.
