The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Jerica Kitchen was arrested after she brought a gun into Harns Marsh Elementary School on Sept. 17.
According to LCSO, Kitchen set off the metal detectors, and one of the school’s secretaries asked her to leave before finding out she had a gun.
The sheriff's office added that Kitchen told the school's secretary her knife attached to her keys probably set off the metal detector, but once deputies searched her purse, they found two throwing knives and a 9-millimeter pistol.
LCSO said Kitchen does own the gun legally. According to the warrant, she did not mean to bring the weapons onto school grounds.
Kitchen also has a history of arrests for child support warrants, according to LCSO.
