Melanoma cases in Florida are increasing, and doctors are saying it's likely due to the increase in ultraviolet rays.
It is the most invasive skin cancer with the highest risk of death. However, melanoma is highly treatable if it's caught early.
NBC2 Anchor Kellie Burns spoke with a young mother who shared her survival story and how she went through four surgeries. She said if it wasn't for a chance encounter while she was walking her dog, she likely wouldn't be here today.
