The woman who was named a person of interest in a homicide investigation on Nasturtium Drive in Punta Gorda has been officially charged with murder.
Charlotte County deputies found the victim, 63-year-old Denis "Doc" Carmody, dead in front of his residence from a single gunshot wound on Dec. 2.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, witnesses said Tiffany Diann May , 37, was at the property with Carmody.
Witnesses also told deputies that May had Carmody's chrome .38 caliber revolver in her possession. CCSO said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement later confirmed this with May's DNA found on the firearm.
FDLE also said the bullet that struck Carmody was a ballistic match to the chrome .38 caliber revolver.
According to the report, law enforcement found May in the area on the day of the incident and arrested her on separate charges. She has remained at the Charlotte County Jail ever since.
May has now been charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
