A man was arrested twice in ten days on charges of driving without a license in Fort Myers.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, at 3:07 a.m., deputies were conducting speed enforcement in the area of South Tamiami Trail and Elwood Road.
Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a black Nissan Altima travelling 18 miles over the speed limit, where they found the driver, Brian Gomez-Chavez, 22, without a license on him.
The vehicle was registered to his passenger, Miriam Mendoza, 27.
Deputies confirmed Gomez-Chavez's license was revoked in July and that he was listed as a habitual traffic offender before arresting him for operating a vehicle while his driver's license was revoked.
Additionally, on Friday at 2:10 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop after the same black Nissan Altima failed to make a complete stop at an intersection.
LCSO says deputies recognized Gomez-Chavez and Mendoza as being involved in a similar incident 10 days prior, with Gomez-Chavez confirming he still did not have a valid license.
The two were arrested, with Mendoza facing charges of permitting an unauthorized operator to drive, and Gomez-Chavez facing charges of operating a vehicle while his driver's license was revoked as a habitual traffic offender.
"This reckless driver should have learned from his first arrest, and was given ample time to fix the situation," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "My deputies and traffic unit have zero tolerance for anyone who puts other drivers at risk and will not stop until our roads are safe."
