Three Arcadia men were arrested on Sunday after being accused of falsifying their information to secure disaster relief funds.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office said deputies were at the Lee Civic Center when employees of the event notified them of fraudulent paperwork.
Oscar Castellanos Cruz, Elmer Leiva Quintanilla and Jose Vasquez Lopez reportedly used an address linked to a car dealership on Palm Beach Boulevard.
Deputies said they spoke with the three men. According to the investigation, all three reside in Arcadia and had used the address to deceive the program in an attempt to receive funds.
The three men were arrested and are facing charges of public aid fraud.
"It's a shame people will travel across county lines to commit a crime that impacts Hurricanes Helene and Milton victims. Not in Lee County," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno. "The Economic Crimes Unit worked alongside DCF to quickly stop their fraudulent plan and apprehend the three men."
