We are learning more details about who Sergent Elio Diaz is, a Charlotte County deputy who was shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday afternoon in Charlotte Harbor, Florida.
Diaz was shot and killed in Charlotte County during a traffic stop before the suspect fled and was later shot and killed by law enforcement.
Diaz was a father of four children and a husband.
The sheriff's office said his personality was bigger than any situation, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh as well.
Diaz joined the sheriff's office on Sept. 13, 2013.
Throughout his career, Diaz has served on road patrol, investigations and Strategic Target Area Response (STAR). Diaz was also a member of the Crisis Negotiations Team.
Diaz earned Law Enforcement Member of the Quarter honors in 2013, once coming in the first quarter and another in the third quarter.

Diaz is also said to be famous around the agency for his homemade Cuban coffee. When he brought some into the office, deputies said there would be lines to get a cup.
He was known as a genuine, kind person who loved his work. He loved "Shop With a Cop" and signed up for it every year.
CCSO also said his passion for his career was outweighed only by his love for his family.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office said Corporal Elio Diaz was posthumously promoted to sergeant on Monday.
