Gilchrist Park in Punta Gorda is still closed and blocked off following the several feet of water and storm surge brought by hurricanes Helene and Milton.
On Tuesday, the city is getting closer to reopening the park and they could use residents' help cleaning up.
The surge was so strong with the storms, specifically Milton, that it even washed boats onto land.
Those had been in the area for nearly two months before they were removed in early December. NBC2 was told that there was a big effort last week to finalize the boat removals.
The goal is to get the park open again for you to come back and walk, run or bike along the Peace River.
The hope is to get the park reopened before the new year.
Residents are invited to come on down to the park, roll up your sleeves and help finish the cleanup at Gilchrist Park at 8:30 a.m.
There will be food provided for the hard work.
