A water main break has closed down part of Cape Coral Parkway Wednesday evening.
According to the City of Cape Coral, a contractor error broke a water main line, closing two lanes of eastbound Cape Coral Pkwy between Skyline Boulevard and 627 Cape Coral Parkway W.
The closure is expected to last approximately 24 hours as crews work on repairs.
NBC2 crews on the scene spotted a hole that formed in the street where the water main break was reported. Workers told us they have to re-mill and re-asphalt the entire area.
The city gave a notice to the following after the water main break:
- Potable water and all hydrants in the immediate area are currently off.
- Once water service is restored, users are advised to boil water for one minute or use bottled water until the advisory is lifted.
- This applies to water used for drinking, cooking, ice-making, washing dishes, and brushing teeth.
The Cape Coral Police Department advised drivers to avoid the area, and traffic updates will be posted on its Facebook page.
