The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will honor the life of fallen Sgt. Elio Diaz on Friday.
The husband and father of four was shot and killed in the line of duty on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Diaz was performing a traffic stop that lasted more than an hour, before he was shot at least 10 times, according to CCSO.
Diaz's memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 20, at Babcock Ranch Field House.
The service will be open to the public and will be live-streamed.
People who wish to attend should enter the address 42880 Crescent Loop using GPS/navigation. According to CCSO, this will lead the public to a reserved parking area.
NBC2 will be at the memorial service and be along the procession route Friday morning.
People are encouraged to honor Diaz's life along the procession route.
CCSO anticipates an overwhelming number of law enforcement vehicles from their brothers and sisters in blue.
In a press conference on Thursday, Sheriff Bill Prummell explained what unfolded Sunday , and how they located Andrew Mostyn, 24, the man accused of shooting and killing Diaz.
It was revealed that Mostyn's mother claimed he had a "dislike for law enforcement" due to past trauma with his father. He felt as though law enforcement didn't protect him.
Shortly after 3 p.m., Diaz pulled over a white pickup truck for a traffic stop at a Chevron gas station at 4968 Tamiami Trail, at the base of the Barron Collier Bridge, just north of Punta Gorda.
During the traffic stop, which lasted more than an hour, Prummell said Mostyn pulled out a rifle and shot Diaz at least 10 times.
Diaz was airlifted to the hospital where he later died.
The community has already gathered support throughout Charlotte County and beyond.
Hundreds gathered Thursday at the Charlotte Memorial Funeral home Thursday to honor Diaz's legacy.
