An Uber driver was convicted of sexual battery after raping a passenger in south Fort Myers in 2022.
According to the State Attorney's Office, Felix Manuel Torres, 39, has been found guilty as charged with sexual battery with great force while masked.
The jury found Torres guilty after a three-day trial in Lee County.
On Sept. 19, 2022, the victim was coming home to her apartment in Lee County from Naples.
The release states Torres picked her up and drove the woman home.
She got out of the car, and as she walked toward her apartment, she was pushed to the ground.
The SAO states she tried to fight back but was kicking and screaming.
He overpowered her and raped her while wearing a mask to conceal his identity.
The release states the Lee County Sheriff's Office was contacted, and an investigation began.
Witness testimony and information from Uber led to the positive identification and arrest of Torres.
His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 13, 2025.
