The annual Cape Coral Boat-A-Long parade took place Saturday at Four Freedoms Park, after being canceled last year due to weather. Hundreds of people filled the park throughout the night celebrating the holidays in style.
100 boats were in attendance on Saturday, as dozens watched them set sail on the waters of Bimini Basin, then set sailed down San Jose, Dolphin and Coral Canals in the southeastern corner of the city.
The City of Cape Coral had food trucks and family friendly entertainment as well, and showcased the popular "The Polar Express", despite temperatures dropping around the upper 40s; people just wanted to have fun. NBC2 spoke to Todd King, the special events coordinator, who told us the city is glad so many people showed up Saturday.
"Love it because, you know, this is another one of those seasons where families come together, people come together to celebrate and being a part of that and getting their weekend started off as we go into Christmas week, it's really special," said King.
