Residents who get their water supplied by private wells are restricted to watering their lawns once a week in portions of northeast and northwest Cape.

The South Florida Water Management District issued this as water levels within this aquifer are at a record low level. The lack of rain has also contributed to this issue.
Some residents have expressed their concerns about the water shortage at Cape Coral's water conservation town hall. Some wells have already dried up and residents are worried about the constant home construction. They say they are worried there isn't enough water to go around.
The Cape Coral City Council approved a new stated grant of $25 million for the utility extension project. It is supposed to connect residents in north Cape Coral to city water.
