A Cape Coral woman competed on "Wheel of Fortune" on Friday.
Desiree Kramer said she has always been a fan of game shows, so when the opportunity came up to try out, she had to audition.
She said the audition process is a lengthy one. She auditioned once through a video, then through Zoom, and finally, in person.
"It's not a one-and-done," Kramer said. "Unfortunately. They really want to get to know you and your personality."
After about four auditions, she made it on the show, but it didn't come easy. She said it took a ton of studying and preparation.
"I watched every episode of 'Wheel of Fortune' that I could find on YouTube," Kramer said. "I would fast forward through them, solve the puzzle, and fast forward again. I studied the past puzzles. I studied common mistakes that other contestants would make."
The preparation paid off big because she won the entire thing on Friday. Plus, a bonus round.
"I solved a couple, a couple puzzles, and I won. Between that and the prize puzzle, it was around $15,000 and then in the bonus round, I won $40,000. In total, it was just over $55,000 in cash and prizes."
She said she is going to put some of the money away and use the rest for a trip to Italy. She also won a trip to Disney World on the show.
She said she has had so many people in Cape Coral she does not even know reach out to her since winning.
"I'm really happy that I was able to do the city proud," Kramer said.
She wants to thank everyone for supporting her and watching her win.
