A man was arrested Tuesday after a disturbance near NW 15th Avenue escalated into a SWAT team response . Police say the incident began when the man, during an argument, allegedly assaulted a woman and prevented her from leaving the home.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers arrived after a 911 call reported the assault.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Michael Peel, 42, barricaded himself in the garage and refused to cooperate with authorities. He reportedly stated he would leave the home "in a body bag," according to police.

Police activated the department's SWAT team due to the man’s erratic behavior.
After their arrival, Peel surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
Neighbors told NBC2 that a man barricaded himself inside a house for hours. They also shared surveillance video of a man getting on his knees and putting his hands up while officers pointed their guns at him.
Peel faces charges of battery and false imprisonment and was booked into the Lee County Jail.
