A Lehigh Acres family is searching for their missing Christmas decoration after a gust of wind swept it away.
The Jones family had set up a festive display on their front lawn, featuring a reindeer, a highland cow, and a Volkswagen-shaped inflatable of Santa’s van. Everything seemed in place until, without warning, the Volkswagen inflatable was picked up by the wind and sent soaring into the sky.
"I looked out the window, and it was gone," said Avrey Jones, who was at home when the event occurred. "I called my mom and told her the thing was missing."
At first, the family thought someone had stolen their inflatable, but they soon realized the wind was to blame. Their security camera footage showed the moment the inflatable was swept off the ground and carried away in mere seconds.
The Jones family was stunned by the sight of the inflatable flying through the air.
"How big of a gust of wind would it have to be to fly up like that and continue flying as it was already up?" Jones said.
Upon closer inspection, they even noticed something odd in the footage.
"It started smoking in the air. If you look really closely when it’s up in the air, it starts smoking," Jones said.
Despite the unusual circumstances, the family has been actively searching for their runaway inflatable. They’ve checked a six-block radius and even searched nearby canals, but so far, no trace of the decoration has been found. The Jones family is left hoping for a Christmas miracle, still wondering where their Volkswagen inflatable might have ended up.
