A vehicle veered off the roadway on Interstate 75 just north of Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers and crashed into a home on Saturday morning, causing considerable damage.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 9:05 a.m. the car went off the roadway at mile marker 143 and crashed through a fence before slamming into the home on Williamsburg Drive.
Troopers say the two occupants in the car ran away but were later arrested.
Brenden Dennis McCarthy, 23, of Cape Coral, was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash, driving with a suspended license, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The passenger, Rachel Lynn Wright, 24, also of Cape Coral, was arrested on an active felony warrant.
No one inside the home was injured.
