A man is accused of murdering his brother in the parking lot of a south Fort Myers restaurant on New Year's Day.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Casa Blanca Modern Mexican Tequila Bar on Marketplace Road near Daniels Parkway and I-75 about a shooting at 8 p.m.
When deputies arrived they found a man dead with gunshot wounds.
The suspect was identified as Steve Iglesia, 25, and arrested on murder charges.
Detectives said Iglesia was at the restaurant with family when he got into an argument. The verbal fight turned physical and continued outside.
LCSO said that's when Iglesia shot the victim but has not confirmed the identity of the victim.
NBC2 spoke with Steve Iglesia's father, who said it was his son, 25-year-old Christopher Iglesia, who was shot and killed by his brother.
The father said he is heartbroken and confused. He said Iglesia was in the military and suffered from PTSD.
Iglesia faces charges of second-degree murder and domestic violence battery.
The sheriff's office said Iglesia is currently in custody at the Lee County Jail and is awaiting his first appearance in court.
