At the start of a new year most people are working on a "new me".
For some, that means ditching the fries for some greens.
"Some of my goals are, first, to have a great softball year. I play softball, I love and stay organized," said Kendall Wylie, a Fort Myers Resident
On her way out of the gym 2 days into the new year, she says her goals are off to a good start.
"I've been trying to say I would like the same routine. Like, I wake up, make my bed, go to the gym, eat breakfast, and I also like to make like a schedule to follow, like throughout the day," said Wylie.
She's hoping the routine lasts longer than years past.
"Well, I make goals every year, but normally I don't stick to them," said Wylie.
She says her new year resolutions last about a week.
Leo Mills says he stopped doing new year resolutions for that very reason.
"Because if you set yourself up for faliure that is what youre going to get," said Mills.
But, he does want to keep up with good habits.
"Wake up get after it do what I need to do and call my mom," said Mills.
Nutrition Coach, Rita Giddens says it's pretty common for people to give up on their resolutions, for many reasons, but mostly because they are not attainable.
"Think more about just incremental small change from where we are, instead of that huge jump to where we know we should be eventually," said Giddens.
Regardless, Giddens says this is the busiest time of the year for her. When it comes to heathier habits, she says eliminating process sugar and alcohol for a week or two is a good way to start. In that time you may see the health benefits.

The other thing that I like to tell folks is if you don't have any accountability, borrow some, accountability comes and goes. We're we're not always going to have motivation. So borrow that from somebody else. Get a friend to work out with
So for that resolution to stick this year --
Giddens says --
Make goals that are attainable --
And have a plan for any set backs --
To get you back on track and a new you in 2025.
