A cold front is coming to Southwest Florida this week, dropping our temperatures for multiple days, meaning those in need will want to find a place to sleep inside.
Mike Nojunas, shelter manager at St. Matthew's House, said both St. Matthew's House facilities — the Campbell Lodge on Airport Road and the Immokalee Friendship House — will be open to provide a warm place to stay.
"St. Matthew's House opens for inclement weather when the temperature gets to 55 degrees or below," Nojunas said. "We typically have room for 10 to 12 males and four to five females. That can be stretched."
With so many cold nights, St. Matthew's House provides beds, pillows and blankets, but it needs donations.
It is asking for you to donate items like blankets, pillows, coats, gloves, shoes, cleaning supplies, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant or anything else that may help.
You can drop off donations at any time.
The shelters will be open Saturday until Jan. 13.
