Some people in Lehigh Acres found a unique way to "ring" in the new year — ding-dong ditching.
Some people used the back of their heels to aggressively knock on someone's door and then run away.
This was at a home on 23rd Street Southwest and Douglas Avenue South in Lehigh Acres on Friday. The homeowner said the front door was damaged.
On Monday, another ding-dong ditcher visited a home on 68th Street West off Sunshine Boulevard, also in Lehigh Acres. This person had a mask on.
Parents, like Marley Unruh, said it's important to watch your kids closely and make sure they are doing the right thing to prevent ding-dong ditching from happening.
"I would tell the parents and make the kids fix the situation," she said. "I would report the situation."
You can be charged with trespassing and even harassment, depending on the ding-dong ditch situation.
