Two dead bodies were found inside the landing gear of a JetBlue plane in Florida late Monday, NBC 6 reports .
JetBlue says the discovery was made during a "routine post-flight maintenance inspection" at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
In a statement to NBC 6, the airline said:
"At this time, the identities of the individuals and the circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation."
JetBlue called the situation "heartbreaking" and said they're committed to working with authorities to understand how this happened.
The aircraft had most recently operated flight 1807 from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.
According to NBC 6, the airport has not reported any impacts to operation due to the incident.
