A Cape Coral man was arrested on Sunday after being accused of attempting to break into a home near NE 21st Place and claiming his house was poisoned.
Cape Coral police responded to reports of a burglary in progress on Sunday around 12:26 a.m.
According to the victim, Aparicio was seen trying to open a locked slider door on the back of the home. The victim said he confronted Aparicio and told him that he was armed.
Aparicio reportedly ran away from the scene before officers arrived.
When officers arrived, they said they met a man who they identified as Antonio Cruz Aparicio, 42, who was attempting to gain entry to a home.
Police said when they found Aparicio he was yelling for help and that his house was poisoned.
Officers said Aparicio did not comply when they attempted to detain him after determining that was not his house.
According to the release, Officers had to use a Taser in an attempt to gain control. He was then successfully taken into custody.
Officers said they located Aparicio's wallet near a separate residence which contained his ID.
Aparicio is now facing one count of burglary of an occupied dwelling and one count of resisting arrest with violence.
