The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Monday after a deputy's K9 tracked down a suspect on the run through an orange grove.
The driver, identified as Eric Manuel Wooten, is facing multiple charges after deputies said he abandoned his car in an orange grove before running away.
Deputies said they surrounded the area and began searching for Wooten.
According to the release, DCSO K9 Kita tracked through the orange grove, leading deputies to Wooten.
Deputies searched Wooten's car which they said they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside.
Wooten was arrested and is facing charges of fleeing law enforcement, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
According to the release, Wooten has been released by the court on bond.
K9 Kita is a Belgian Malinois and was originally born in Belgium on Sept. 22, 2017.
Kita became a member of the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office on March 11, 2019. Deputies said she is a single purpose narcotics detection and person(s) tracking K9.
DSCO said Kita also enjoys playing tug and going for runs with her handler and loyal companion, Detective Friend.
