The Town of Fort Myers Beach wants to hear from you as they talk about the possibility of expanding the iconic Pink Shell Resort after it took a big hit during Hurricane Ian.
The expansion would include a new six-story boutique hotel with 40 units, as well as a residential duplex spanning more than six acres on the north end of the island.
It would go in an empty lot being used as a parking lot for employees.
Pink Shell's General Manager said an expanded resort would bring more jobs to the island and help attract more visitors.
"We need some development on the island. You go down, there's not much happening, and we need new development happening on this island," GM Bill Waichullis said.
The town's planning agency recommended against the project, saying the building would be too high.
However, Town Council does not have to follow the agency's recommendation.
