A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison for a murder outside a Naples nightclub in 2022.
According to the State Attorney's Office, Alexander Evans was found guilty of second-degree murder with a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and battery on a person 65 or older.
The release states on Oct. 8, 2022, there was a fight between two groups of people inside the club, which is at an entertainment and shopping complex on Tamiami Trail. The argument turned violent when Evans came physically to members of the other party.
One of the people hit by Evans was over the age of 65.
Security attempted to escort both groups off the property. The fight continued into the parking lot and that is when the suspect pulled a gun out of his waistband, according to the release.
Evans pointed the gun at the security staff. He shot the victim after they fell on the ground during the fight.
Evans left, and the victim died at the scene.
The release states he left his credit card on the table inside the club to pay his tab, which led to his identification.
Evans went to the airport and flew to Europe. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Days later, he took another flight back to Florida. He was arrested by the Fort Lauderdale Airport by the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
As a part of his sentence, he was ordered to pay $9,866 for the cost of the investigation to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and pay court costs and the cost of prosecution.
