A Fort Myers man is wanted for violating probation for depositing checks with the intent to defraud.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Patrick Trelease, 40, agreed to work with a woman who had some stolen checks.
Officials say he made the checks payable to himself for large amounts of cash and deposited them into his bank account.
He split the money with the woman, making about a third in profit for each transaction.
That made it easy for detectives to trace the money right back to Trelease, who was already in jail for narcotics possession when they were able to charge him with the fraud case.
Since being released from jail, Trelease violated the terms of his probation, which has triggered the new warrant for his arrest.
He is 6 feet tall and 195 pounds, with two priors for drugs and a DUI with property damage.
