Traffic along McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers is no stranger to congestion, and large trucks often add to the frustration for drivers. On Monday, the Fort Myers City Council is tackling the issue, exploring potential solutions to ease the gridlock and improve the flow of traffic.
Fort Myers City Councilwoman Liston Bochette said he has gotten complaints from residents who live along McGregor Boulevard, specifically in the Edison Park Historic District around the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, who said these trucks pose a threat.
Bochette said he counted about 21 dump trucks in just 30 minutes driving on McGregor.
The other concern is that these trucks are using residential roads as cut-throughs to get get to main roads like US-41.
Now, Bochette is pushing to enforce an existing ordinance restricting large trucks on this busy and popular road.
