The Cape Coral Police Department recognized an officer on Tuesday for saving a baby's life during a traffic stop last month.
On December 12, 2024, Officer Chris Anzalone was heading home from his job as a school resource officer at Pelican Elementary School.
Anzalone saw a person driving recklessly and pulled the car over. CCPD said the driver got out of the car and yelled, "My baby, My baby!"
In an instant, Anzalone jumped into action and saw that the infant was visibly blue and wasn't breathing.
He then used his medical training to open the baby's airways and save the child's life.
Cape Coral Police Chief Anthony Sizemore recognized Anzalone by awarding him the Life Saving Award from CCPD.
