Florida Highway Patrol is investigating two deadly crashes in Lehigh Acres Monday night.
One happened on Leeland Heights Boulevard East . Troopers said an SUV crashed into a motorcyclist. Family and friends said the motorcyclist's name was Graham Flinchum.
Liam Golden rode motorcycles with Graham in the group "Sychotic Elements Naples."
"He’s leaving behind a wife, a daughter, a son, a grandson down here, and they all live together," Golden said.
He said it's a major loss for the entire motorcycle community, too.
"He was a bike enthusiast at the end of the day," Golden said. "He loved motorcycles. His grandson loves motorcycles, as well. It just runs in his blood, and it's going to be passed down forever and ever."
Golden said Graham just started a business in Lehigh Acres, so he could support his family. NBC2 spoke to several people that knew Graham, and they all said he was the kindest man.
"He gave you the shirt off his back if he needed to," Golden said. "If he saw that you were in hurt or struggling, he would offer that you come and work with him."
He was the second motorcycle driver to die in Lehigh on Monday.
Troopers also said an SUV driver turned in front of a biker on State Road 82 and Alabama Road .
Steve Klidmisch, motorcycle advocate with Abate Florida, said a 2024 law increased fines for drivers who hit motorcyclists.
"For injuring me, it's no less than $1,500, you have to take a driver's improvement class, and you're supposed to lose your driver's license for three months," Klidmisch said. "If you kill me, it's supposed to be $5,000, a driver's class, and you lose your license for a year."
Both Golden and Klidmisch want to remind drivers to watch for motorcyclists on the road and always "look twice."
