A Cape Coral man pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday after a deadly DUI crash that killed one person and injured several others in front of a Matlacha restaurant last year.
Cody James Curtis, 25, was sentenced to 14 years in prison, with time served on multiple counts of manslaughter, serious bodily injury, and property damage. The charges may run consecutively.
Curtis entered his plea during a hearing at the Lee County courthouse Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at "That BBQ Place" on Matlacha , killing 80-year-old Marylou Sharp, on April 13.
Deputies said Curtis was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
Curtis faced multiple charges, including second-degree DUI manslaughter and multiple counts of DUI with serious bodily injury and property damage.
Judge Robert J. Branning handed down a consecutive sentence, including a four-year minimum term for the first count.
