A man from Arcadia has pleaded guilty to possessing firearms despite being a convicted felon. The man now faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, William Roger Clayton, 41, offered several firearms for sale to an undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in July 2022.
The weapons included rifles, pistols, and accessories such as silencers and “ghost guns,” which are privately manufactured firearms without serial numbers, making them untraceable.
The DOJ said Claytonman a lengthy criminal history that includes convictions for robbery, grand theft, and trafficking in stolen property. Federal law prohibits felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Clayton now faces up to 15 years in federal prison.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office.
