Florida residents, including those in Charlotte , Collier , and Hendry counties, can now renew their concealed weapon licenses at their local tax collector's office, streamlining the process for gun owners.
This service is available in 37 counties statewide, benefiting Florida’s 2.4 million concealed carry license holders who may need to replace lost or damaged licenses.
The change follows the signing of Senate Bill 1084 into law in 2024.
“By expanding services at local tax collector offices, we’re not only improving customer service but also protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens,” Commissioner Wilton Simpson said.
Looking ahead, Florida’s firearm policies could see further changes.
A bill filed in 2024 proposes allowing the open carry of firearms, but new State Senate President Ben Albritton has voiced opposition to the idea.
The state's next legislative session begins in March, where this and other proposals will be debated.
