Two teens from Fort Myers are still recovering in the hospital after narrowly surviving the terror attack in New Orleans on New Year's Day.

Elle Eisele and Steele Idelson, both 19, were struck by a truck outside their hotel near Bourbon Street on January 1. The attack killed 14 people and injured dozens.
According to the families of the victims, both recent Canterbury School graduates are being treated for numerous broken bones and internal injuries.
Fifteen days after the incident, they remain at the University Medical Center in New Orleans. Their mothers described them as “tough and resilient” as they work through a challenging recovery process.
The attacker, whose actions were described as intentional, is accused of using a truck to target people near the popular tourist area.
A new photograph shared with NBC2 shows the two young women together just before the attack.
Despite their injuries, they reunited in the intensive care unit last week. Nurses facilitated the emotional moment when one of the victims was wheeled into the room to see her friend.
Updates from the families reveal that both teenagers are making progress but face a road to further recovery. Community members in Southwest Florida and beyond have expressed support for their healing.
