IHOP Port Charlotte is hosting a tribute breakfast fundraiser honoring fallen Charlotte County Sgt. Elio Diaz.
The famous pancake house is hosting the breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1789 Tamiami Trail.
Diaz pulled over a white pickup truck for a traffic stop at a Chevron gas station at 4968 Tamiami Trail, across from Sunseeker Resort.
During the stop, Sherrif Bill Prummell said Andrew Mostyn Jr. , 24, pulled out a rifle and shot Diaz.
Diaz was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
IHOP Port Charlotte said they are a committed community partner and loyal supporter of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department and were deeply affected by his passing.
This event aims to support his family and provide financial assistance to ease the burden of funeral and related costs.
