The Lee County Sheriff's Office faced off against the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office Saturday in a charity hockey game to honor fallen Charlotte County Deputy Sgt.Elio Diaz.Diaz was tragically killed in the line of duty on Dec. 15 while conducting a traffic stop.The game at Hertz Arena drew a crowd, with fans lining up early to support the event. Diaz’s family was brought onto the ice for a moment of silence to honor him. Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno and several deputies participated in the game, showing their support for Diaz's family. Longtime Everblades fans Chris and Danielle Hudson traveled from Naples to attend, saying they were proud to support the memorial game."It’s just really nice to have a place that does this for the community," Chris said. All ticket sales from Saturday's game benefited Diaz’s family. The Florida Everblades are also donating $5 for each ticket purchased for their game.
