One of the most successful wine auctions in the world raised nearly $2.6 million for children's healthcare along the Gulf Coast.
Four hundred guests raised their paddles at the Southwest Florida Wine Festival on Saturday at the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs. The theme for this year's event was "Mischief & Miracles: A speakeasy soirée for children’s healthcare".
Guests at the live auction bid on an array of wines, luxurious travel packages and exclusive event access.
The money will help build an outpatient surgery center at Golisano Children's Hospital.
NBC2 anchor Kellie Burns served as the emcee for the auction 14 years in a row now.
With the two-day festival, SWFL Children's Charities, Inc. has raised over $30 million for children's healthcare since 2004.
