Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday at the U.S. Capitol, becoming the second president in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms.
Tens of thousands of people in Southwest Florida are reflecting on what the next four years will look like.
Cheers filled the air Monday morning at Seed to Table in Naples with people showing their support for Trump being sworn into office.
"It's actually amazing how people dressed up, you can see the patriotic mentality here you see the energy, you feel the energy here. It's fantastic," said Zoran Micic, a Naples resident.
"I was expecting it because I was here on election night, and it was just as crowded. A lot of people here that love the country and are happy to be here," said Ricky Yvon, who was visiting Naples.
Hundreds of people arrived, trying to find a way to get inside. Some people had to park a few miles away; others created their own parking spots for the occasion.
The risk of getting a parking ticket didn't bother them.
"People were waiting patiently, which I was really amazed at. So you could tell, it's all the energy — everybody's excited, everybody's happy, so why complain about something like parking," Micic said.
As folks spent the day celebrating Trump in office, Jim Rosinus from the Democratic Party of Lee County says he was glad Monday was filled with celebrations and not riots or protests.
"This is an example of the peaceful transfer of power, which is what our country is supposed to have, unlike what happened last time when Trump lost," Rosinus said.
Others NBC2 spoke with in Fort Myers are also worried about Trump being back in office but are trying their best to move forward.
"He is the president now, and so we have to get behind him and try to support him with all the endeavors that he's doing for anything positive for the nation," said Eddie Hardin.
