Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell held a news conference Wednesday afternoon to address a recent deputy-involved shooting that left one man dead.

Prummell shared body cam video and details of an incident that happened on Thursday, Jan. 16, at a home on Eager Road in Charlotte County.
According to Prummell, in a statement the night of the shooting, he said dispatchers received calls about a man walking up and down the 2600 block of Eager Road yelling, "Where are the cops at?" while shooting a gun into the air, shortly after 5 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they said they saw a man, later identified as Michael Lewis Schwartz, 53,sitting in a chair on the porch of a home.
CCSO said as deputies approached the home, Schwartz stood up and raised a gun in the direction of the deputies.
That's when deputies opened fire, shooting and killing Schwartz.
