A Fort Myers man was arrested after being accused of leading Florida Troopers on a high-speed chase through Sarasota County.
Derrick Jerome Truttling, 30, is facing multiple charges after being arrested on Wednesday just before midnight.
Troopers said they responded to an active pursuit with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office around 11:56 p.m.
According to the release, Truttling was driving a BMW southbound on I-75 at a high rate of speed.
As the BMW continued to speed away, Troopers said Truttling attempted to exit onto Laurel Road before colliding with the curbed median which disabled the car and forced it to come to a stop on the return ramp to I-75.
Truttling was arrested and is facing the following charges, according to FHP:
- Driving on a Suspended License
- Fleeing and Eluding
- Possession of Cocaine (3 grams)
- Possession of Marijuana (304 grams of edibles and 59 grams of marijuana)
- Felony Warrant
