Chef Bryan Sutton expected to work in a tight kitchen when he opened his Naples restaurant, The Rooster, in 2017.
What he didn't expect to happen was something out of his wildest dreams.
Sutton received an email in June from producers of the Food Network show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives," hosted by Guy Fieri.
A few rounds of phone interviews later, Fieri's red Camaro hit the road for Naples.
"At first, I thought it was a joke. They're like, 'We're gonna be there next week,' and we're like, what?!" said Sutton. "When the Camaro got here, we were like, 'It's real.'"
As the show filmed an episode at The Rooster, Sutton prepared two dishes for Fieri to try.
While Sutton can't yet disclose what two dishes he served, you may be able to take a look at his menu and guess.
"I was extremely happy with what we did. It was the same thing as we always serve," said Sutton. "He was like, 'I cannot believe this food is in Naples, Florida.'"
Sutton's Texas roots that inspire his recipes may have caught Fieri by surprise.
"I think I learned how to make biscuits when I was five," said Sutton. "We have a lot of jalapeños and spice. You want your food to kind of dance and talk to you."
With a restaurant full of customers who keep coming back and a once-in-a-lifetime experience under his belt, life is gravy for this chef.
"I think everything went up to the next level," said Sutton.
