The Collier County Sheriff's Office has released footage from a multi-county vehicle chase of a carjacking suspect on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The chase started in Lee County when a K-9 deputy responded to Best Buy at Page Field Commons for three people accused of being involved in a theft ring.
One of the suspects, Paul Fritzson, eventually engaged in a physical altercation with the deputy before hitting them and speeding away. The Lee County Sheriff's Office said the deputy suffered minor injuries and is OK
Fritzson led deputies on a pursuit toward Collier County before abandoning a Nissan Sentra he was driving and carjacking a man's Mazda CX-5 in the Gusto Bella Vita community in Naples.
The victim who was carjacked, identified as Stoyan Chergov, was not injured.
The chase ended near the I-75 toll plaza at Exit 101 in Collier County. According to CCSO, Fritzson tried to run toward a fence on the roadway, but as he climbed it, a deputy hit the fence.
Fritzson is facing charges of carjacking and fleeing and eluding in Collier County. In Lee County, he is facing charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding.
