This week's Gulf Coast cold snap is now a record-breaker. On Thursday, Fort Myers only warmed to 50 degrees in the afternoon. That breaks the previous record cold maximum temperature for the city on today's date of 58 degrees set in 1960. Typically in mid to late January Fort Myers warms up to 75 degrees, making Thursday's afternoon high 25 degrees colder than average. Even colder temperatures are expected across the Gulf Coast on Friday night. As of now, forecast data points to nighttime lows overnight Friday into early Saturday morning, dropping into the mid and upper 30s.That will again put the city within striking distance of a new record, as the record low temperature on Saturday morning is 37 degrees, set in 2003.Meteorologist Rob Duns has the latest on the cold snap and how the weather pattern will change next week, Thursday at 11 on ABC7 News.
