An older man and a pet were rescued from a fire that ignited in a single-story duplex along Whiskey Creek Drive Thursday night.According to the Iona McGregor Fire District, a crew was in the area when the call came in.Crews noticed smoke coming from the unit when they arrived and received reports of a disabled, elderly man trapped in the bedroom near the front door.Firefighters found the victim approximately 10 feet inside a bedroom and were able to safely remove him from the home.
