After last week's cold snap offered the Gulf Coast the coldest temperatures our area has seen since 2022, ABC7 viewer Christopher messaged our Meteorologist Rob Duns with a question. Christopher asked: "This year seems to be the coldest I can remember. Is it, or is it just me?" Tuesday on ABC7 News at 7, we went through the data to see how this January stacks up so far. According to the National Weather Service, the average January temperature in Fort Myers is 64.7 degrees. This takes into account everything from the warmest afternoon highs to the coldest nighttime lows and everything in between. So far this month, using data from January 1 to January 27, 2025, the average temperature in Fort Myers has been 60.6 degrees. Though that temperature is considerably below the city's January average, it's still a ways off from the top record holder.Since records began in 1902, the coldest January in the city's history was January 1981, when the average temperature was a cool 55.7 degrees.
