A man appeared in federal court Thursday after DEA and FBI agents raided his Cape Coral home Wednesday afternoon.
Christopher Ward Sr. is accused of dealing fentanyl-laced drugs worth up to $52,000.
"I saw him coming when he first started renting. I came over, try to introduce myself, and he turned and just went the other way," said Jason Goldstein, a Cape Coral resident. "And every time I tried to talk to me, do the same thing. So I gave up."
Goldstein was one of many neighbors who witnessed the agents swarming the neighborhood.
"They block the end of the block, by the stop sign and they had a blocked up to, I guess, my house," Goldstein said.
Ward's sister and cousin attended the hearing but declined to comment.
Ward's neighbors described him as quiet and someone who mostly kept to himself.
The judge appointed a public defender for Ward during the hearing.
