A new trial for a former Hendry County deputy accused of excessive force will get underway Tuesday after his first one ended in a mistrial.

Tyler Williams, 29, is accused of handcuffing a man and then throwing him to the ground, rendering him unconscious, on July 4, 2023.
The incident was captured on Williams' body camera, and reports say Williams wrote a false justification for the incident.
The initial trial ended in a mistrial last November when jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.
If convicted, Williams could face up to 30 years in prison. The retrial begins at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Sheri Polster Chappell.
