Expect major lane closures on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers on Saturday night.
The Florida Department of Transportation is working on the diverging diamond to improve traffic flow from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday.
During this time, motorists traveling south on Ortiz Avenue or north on Six Mile Cypress Parkway will only be able to turn right onto Colonial Blvd. The straight and left turn lanes will be closed as crews work, FDOT said.
The improvements aim to make driving smoother in this busy area. Drivers should watch for cones and crews to navigate the changes.
FDOT said when the continuous flow intersection opens, drivers traveling west on Colonial Blvd. and turning left onto Six Mile Cypress Parkway should expect to shift to the south side of Colonial Blvd. before the intersection.
Those driving east on Colonial Blvd. and turning left onto Ortiz Ave. should expect to shift to the north side of Colonial Blvd. before the intersection.
