A 2-year-old and a 5-month-old baby were killed, and a woman is fighting for her life after a hit-and-run crash in Sarasota.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday in the area of State Road 683 (North Washington/301) and 7th Street.
Police said a vehicle described as a white 2013-2018 Lexus ES300 had left the scene. Police noted the vehicle had damage to the right front quarter panel and windshield.
According to SPD, the vehicle was last seen southbound on SR-683 making a U-turn in the area of 5th Street before making an eastbound turn in the area of 7th Street.
The victims of the crash, a 29-year-old woman, a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old, were transported to area hospitals.
Both children died from their injuries, and the woman remains in critical condition, according to Sarasota police.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the individual or vehicle involved in the crash.
