A woman was arrested Tuesday morning after being accused of leading deputies on a high-speed chase that resulted in multiple crashes before running from officers.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies saw a white Dodge sedan speeding eastbound on Tamiami Trail.
The vehicle hit a curb, flattening its tires, but continued weaving through traffic.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle after it struck a white Ford truck, but the driver did not stop.
The vehicle hit two more cars before crashing into a ditch near a cigar bar on Tamiami Trail East.
The driver, identified as Janice Hale, 40, ran from the crash but was quickly arrested after refusing officers’ commands to stop.
Investigators said Hale had been released from jail earlier that morning after posting bond for drug-related charges.
Hale was taken to a hospital after telling officers she had ingested fentanyl before her arrest.
Once cleared, she will be transported back to jail.
Hale faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and resisting an officer without violence.
